Hello HiBar
Take a look in your bathroom and count how many bottles you see. On average, it’s estimated that there are four bottles of toiletries per household. When you multiply that by the total population, that number gets a whole lot bigger and for those trying to transitioning to a more eco-friendly lifestyle, that number can start to look pretty scary because it contributes to plastic waste.
This is certainly an issue because in most cases, the bottles are not made from biodegradable plastic and this can affect the environment on a much larger scale. Why not reduce it even further by making small changes in any way we can, starting with using bar shampoo and conditioner to reduce the number of bottles in the bathroom. Yes, this is the latest innovation for the sake of the environment and thought to be the better alternative to the liquid shampoo, and these products do help with the tresses as well!
Bar shampoo is basically a shampoo, only it comes in a solid bar. And because of this feature, this type of shampoo has several advantages over traditional, water-based shampoos that we usually use during the shower routine.
For a start, bar shampoo is highly concentrated as there is no water content in it, compared to traditional shampoos that have as much as 90% of the water in it (I mean, look at the ingredients and you’ll see water/aqua listed first, which denotes as a major component). In other words, a little goes a long way when washing your locks with the bar plus it lasts longer than the usual water-based one!
Most bar shampoo that we see in the market is made from natural ingredients as this stuff is not considered mainstream in the market. This feature is wonderful as you don’t have to pile more chemicals onto your hair, especially if you have a sensitive scalp that requires extra care. Keep in mind since the bar is concentrated, you may need to use just a tiny bit of the bar, and washing the hair a few times a week.
Just like a bar of soap that won’t get sudsy as long as it stays dry, bar shampoo is the same and can be beneficial during travel - you pretty much stow them away in your luggage, and they take up a small amount of space compared to a big bottles of shampoo (especially if your favorite brand isn’t available in travel size). Tip: TSA won’t count it as a liquid so you can bring as many bars of shampoo as you’d like.
And at the moment, I’m using bar shampoo and conditioner from HiBAR and simply loving it. The bar is made from natural ingredients and uses surfactants derived from coconut oil that are less drying for both the scalp and the hair and for the environment as well. Plus, I love that the bar is designed to have a slight diagonal shape so you can hold onto it securely while massaging it into the scalp. At the moment, HiBAR comes in three varieties - Moisturize, Maintain, and Volumize that you can use accordingly.
And all three of them are suitable for colored hair!
